Engaging new Card Game

As a Christie fan and an avid board and card game player, choosing to get this was a no-brainer. I’m going to list my favorite parts of the game and then one aspect of play that I feel is flawed (and I am willing to admit it maybe my own misinterpretation of the rules). Before reviewing, I must state I have only played the two-person version of this game so some of my impressions may change upon playing with more people.

Good:
-Fun artwork
-Great quotes
-Smart tie-ins of rules to detectives’ personalities (ie. paring Tommy and Tuppence cards)
- 2-play mode
-Fast
-Compact
-Great gift for Christie fans!

Now the flaw:
-The murderer, whom is known in 2-play mode, can rush the game through at the end of his or her turns by discarding all their cards and drawing new ones, thus depleting the draw pile and getting closer to the Murderer Escapes Card. I’m not sure how important this would be in modes of 3 or more, but I think in general there should be a limit because there aren’t too many Delay the Murderer’s Escape cards, at least, not enough to keep the murderer from doing this. In a 3+ player mode, someone doing this would be rather quickly identified as the murderer and the other team members could then gang up on them, plus, the murderer would have to wait for at least two player to play before being able to attempt it again. This of course could easily be remedied with a rule putting a limit per turn on draw cards.

That said, the game is a lot of fun and entertaining!
